When looking to rent a new apartment, potential tenants should do their research and be aware of the types of rentals that are available in their area. Typically, major cities have a variety of apartment set-ups available to rent, while suburban locations may have fewer. Everyone looks for something different when they are renting an apartment. Whether its families with young children, roommates, a couple or just a single individual, different layouts and set-ups are best for different people.
Studio:
-A studio is concerned to be a one room apartment with a bathroom. Typically, there is a separate kitchen area and the living and sleeping areas are often merged.
One – Bedroom:
-A one bedroom apartment is just what you think it is offering a separate bedroom and living area.
Junior 1-Bedroom:
-A junior one bedroom is often a large studio with a sectioned of sleeping area or a lofted sleeping area.
2, 3 or 4 Bedroom:
-Again, these apartments have separate rooms for each of the bedrooms.
Convertible 2, 3 or 4 Bedroom:
-A convertible property would have space to create an additional bedroom, whether it is taken from a living area, dining area, etc. These are desirable to renters who may be on a budget.
Loft:
-A loft apartment is a big, open space with few walls. There is often a wall and door for the bathroom, but aside from that there is a completely open floorplan. They often have large windows and high ceilings, with exposed ductwork.
Duplex:
-A duplex rental has two levels. The set-up varies as to whether the bedrooms are located on a separate floor than the eating and living areas.
Railroad:
-Railroad apartments are often located in older rentals. In this set-up, one room leads to the next with no hallways. These often offer very little privacy.
While this is a listing of many different types of rental properties available, there are still additional apartments that may not fall into these qualifications. It is best to speak with your Realtor about your expectations and what you desire when renting an apartment. See many units before you decide on what rental is best for you.
